Dr. Vijay Anand is the Chief Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and Gastro Specialist at Sri Ramakrishna Specialty Hospitals Pvt. Ltd. After completing MBBS from VMKV Medical College, Salem, he pursued post-graduation in General Surgery/ M.S from Government Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai. Then, he developed an interest in Surgical Gastroenterology and advanced laparoscopic surgery, and hence he joined as an assistant to a renowned Surgical Gastroenterologist, Padma Shri Dr. Ahmed Ali.

Later, he was selected for MCh Surgical Gastroenterology in Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai, after securing 1st rank in the entrance examination. There, he received extensive training in the management of complex GI diseases, particularly hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. During this period, he presented various papers on the national and international level.

After completing MCh, he joined as a gastro care specialist under Dr. Baiju Senadhipan, a world-renowned advanced laparoscopic surgeon in Trivandrum, where he got the opportunity to assist him in complex laparoscopic surgeries and pan-Indian surgical workshops. Then, he was selected for an International Visiting Scholarship program to further his laparoscopic skills in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery at the prestigious Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea.
